On 9 August 2014, an official ceremony took place for commissioning of the cranes.  The event was attended by the Minister of Transport, IT and Communications Mr. Danail Papazov.

The mobile cranes have diesel-electric drive system and are suitable for handling of:

- general cargo and heavy lifts by hook

- bulk cargo by motor grab

- containers by spreader.

The main purpose of this investment was to provide the new berth No.10A of Varna West with multi-functional handling equipment.  In order to improve the infrastructure of this berth, additional investment was made in 2012.  The berth will be available for handling of containers, general cargo, bulk materials, machinery and equipment.  In particular, the site is intended to serve as a modern technologic yard for the expected cargo traffic generated by the South Stream pipeline international project which is a matter of priority for Port of Varna EAD ensuring financial stability of the company in the next 3 years.
